    • Lou Garrett Farris Chesteen, the daughter of Joshua and Mary "Polly" Grantham Garrett and the first cousin of Ed Chasteen's second wife Susan Ann Grantham. Lou was married first to a Tom Farris who, by tradition, was killed in the War for Southern Independence. It may be that Tom and the G. W. Farris buried at Old Pine Bluff Cemetery (1825-1865) are related. Lydia had one son by this marriage, also named Tom, born circa 1864. Lou was noted as the mother of two children on the recording of the 1900 census for Montgomery County, MS page 293-B, this of course would be Tom and her daughter Mary (who is noted in her mother's home that year) by Ed Chasteen. Some compilers have taken this to mean that there were two children by Ed, not considering Lou's first marriage. It is thought that Lou is the elder female noted in the home of George Elam and Sarah Garrett Chesteen in the 1910 census page 252-B whose given name was omitted. This female was noted as the "mother" of George, age 68 (born circa 1842), and the mother of 2 children, both alive. This can't be Susan Holley or Sarah's mom Mary Ann Grantham Garrett, as both were dead by 1910 and had more than 2 children. Thus, Mary was still known to be alive in 1910. Tom Farris is said to have married Alma Williams, daughter of Monroe Williams and Mollie Rogers.
