Know all men by these presents that I Abner D. Chastain of the State and County aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to me paid by John Chastain William Chastain and and Washington P. Chastain in the State aforesaid I have granted bargained Sold and released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said John Chastain William Chastain and Washington P. Chastain all that piece parcel or tract of land known as the John Cassell Homestead Deeded to Samuel Roper from Roper to Ellis from Ellis to Abner D. Chastain containing one hundred acres more or less lying on Cassells Creek P--mpki____ Township Pickens County SC bounded by land of Mrs. Malinda Chastain John Miles Mrs. Mary Chastain on waters of Oolenoy River Together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in anywise incident or appurtaining To have and to hold all and singular to said premises before mentioned unto the said John Chastain William Chastain and Washington P. Chastain their heirs and assigns forever. And I do hereby bind myself my heirs executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said John Chastain William Chastain and Washington P. Chastain their heirs and assigns against me and my heirs and all other person lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof Witness my hand and seal this 19th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety

Renunciation of Dower

I G. M. Lynch do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern that Mrs. Mary Malina Chastain wife of the within named Abner D. Chastain did this day appear before me and being privately and seperately examined by me did declare that she does so freely voluntarily and without any compulsion dread or fear of any person whomsoever renounce release and forever relinquish unto the within named John Chastain, William Chastain and Washington P. Chastain their heirs and assigns all her interest and estate and also all her rights and claims of dower of in or to all and singular the premises within mentioned and released. Given under my hand and seal this 19th day of March A.D. 1890
