Abner Chastain to J. F. Hayes

This indenture made and entered into this 14th day of April 1900 by and between Abner Chastain party of the first part and J. F. Hayes party of the second part both of the county and state aforesaid. Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of #259.50 to him in hand paid by the party of the second part the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged has bargained and sold and by these presents does hereby grant bargain sell and convey to the party of the second part his heirs and assigns all such timber and trees being on the lands herein after described and marked as follows to wit: two acre ___ ___ near the ground and in the acre ___ this hammer brand "T. I. said trees being on certain tracts of land in Pickens County, State of S.C. described as follows: 1st tract containing 665 acres lying on the head waters of Big East___ Creek known as the Laddplea and being the same tract of land heretofor purchased by the party of the first part from Alexander & Taylor. 2nd tract containing 113 1/2 acres adjoining the above tract and lying on Dogwood Sta__ Creek purchased by said first party from the ____ heirs. The party of the first part also ____ conveys to the party of the second part his heirs and assigns the right to enter in and upon said lands at any and all times for the purpose of cutting removing sawing and manufacturing said timber and trees and the right to locate saw mills and other machinery for manufacturing purposes. Also all road ways, mill yards, bridges & r. necessary for the manufacturing and removal of said trees and timber together with the necessary timbers for the same for further consideration those herein before mentioned the same privileges and rights are hereby given for any other timber road said secured party may purchase or desire to cut and manufacture in the locality of said lands. It is understood and agreed by the parties to this indenture that the trees heretofore made by said first party to S. U. Foster and assigned to said second party dated 24th day of April 1899 Shall notwithstanding this deed be continued in full force and affect for the time of years herein state as to all timbers not heretofore marked. that the right and privileges herein granted may be exercised by said second party and his assigns for a term of five years from this date: In testimony whereof the party of the first part has hereunto set his hand and seal this day and year first above written Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of
